Cell Name: BALB/c Mouse Tracheal Epithelial Cells

  • Description
C57BL/6 mouse primary tracheal epithelial cells are isolated from the tracheal tissue of pathogen-free adult C57BL/6 mice. These epithelial cells form a protective barrier in the respiratory tract and are critical for maintaining tracheal integrity. The population includes basal cells and myoepithelial cells, with basal cells expressing TRP63, cytokeratin 5 (KRT5), and nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR), capable of self-renewal and differentiation into ciliated and secretory cells in vivo. Myoepithelial cells can also give rise to multiple airway epithelial subtypes. These cells are commonly used in studies of respiratory diseases and epithelial regeneration. They are cryopreserved at early passage in liquid nitrogen for long-term storage.

BALB/c mouse tracheal epithelial cells are commonly used in scientific research as an in vitro model to study various aspects of respiratory biology, including cell signaling, inflammation, infection, and drug testing. Primary tracheal epithelial cell culture is a useful tool to study cell differentiation, cell to cell interactions, and the role of immune system factors in tracheal disease, such as asthma. It offers a valuable platform to investigate how bacterial adherence to tracheal epithelial cells in the context of viral infection, such as S. pneumoniae with Influenza virus.
