    Aedes albopictus clone C6/36 is an insect cell line that was originally isolated from the neonate larvae of the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus). C6/36 exhibits adherent culture properties and is non-anchorage dependent. The stemline karyotype of the LC6/36 cell is diploid. This cell line is not tumorigenic in SCID or immunosuppressed mice, but it can grow colonies in semisolid medium. This cell line is susceptible to infection by flaviviruses and has been reported to effectively replicate Dengue viruses at high titers. Therefore, it serves as a suitable host for transfection.
