    Canine Bone Marrow Mononuclear Cells (BMMCs) are isolated from the bone marrow of healthy Beagle dogs, commonly used in pharmacological studies due to their similarity to humans. These cells are a heterogeneous population, including monocytes, lymphocytes, and hematopoietic stem cells. BMMCs are pivotal in hematopoiesis, immune responses, and studying bone marrow microenvironments. They exhibit suspended growth with irregular morphology, cytoplasmic granules, and minimal adherence. They are cryopreserved at early passage. These cells are widely used in drug safety and efficacy testing, as well as in immunology and hematology research. They do not exhibit tumorigenic properties.

    In dogs, the transplantation of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells was used as a treatment for unhealed anconeal process. Results showed that regenerated bone tissue was observed at the site of implantation. Moreover, a clinical trial showed that the transplantation of bone marrow mononuclear cells greatly improved recovery from acute spinal cord injury of the dog. In humans, bone marrow mononuclear cells transplantation has been broadly recognized as a safe, effective therapy for leukemia. Furthermore, canine bone marrow mononuclear cells can be used to study the secretion of growth factors and cytokines for their regenerative capabilities.
