Cell Name: CD57 Mouse Microglia

  • Description
CD57 Mouse Microglia are primary immune cells isolated from the brain tissue of adult male C57BL/6 mice (8–10 weeks old). As CNS-resident phagocytes, they play vital roles in neurodevelopment, debris clearance, synaptic pruning, and neuroinflammatory modulation. These cells express markers including CD11b, Iba1, and F4/80. CD57 Mouse Microglia are cryopreserved post-isolation and validated by flow cytometry or immunocytochemistry. Functionally, they secrete cytokines and chemokines upon activation, influencing neuronal health and disease progression. They are widely used in models of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. Due to their sensitivity, freeze-thaw cycles should be minimized, and specific culture conditions must be maintained to preserve physiological relevance.

CD57 Mouse Microglia have been extensively studied for their roles in health and disease. Molecular phenotyping and RNA sequencing (RNAseq) profiles help unravel the gene expression patterns and signaling pathways involved in microglial function. By comparing mouse microglia to human microglia, researchers identify shared markers and validate antibodies, aiming to identify conserved characteristics. Additionally, studying microglial homeostasis in the healthy and degenerating retina provides valuable insights for developing therapeutic strategies targeting microglia in retinal disorders. Overall, mouse microglia offer a valuable model system to deepen knowledge of microglia and probe new treatments.
