Cell Name: CYNOM-K1

Monkey Cynomologus skin cell; Derived from the skin of a Cynomologus monkey embryo; Subculture: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1: 3 to 1: 6, i.E. Seeding at 2-4x10, 000 cells/cm² using 0.25% Trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.

  • Description
CYNOM-K1 is a non-human primate fibroblast-like cell line established from the skin tissue of a cynomolgus monkey embryo (Macaca fascicularis) at the gestational stage, typical of mid-to-late term harvests. These cells are non-tumorigenic and non-metastatic, as shown by lack of tumor formation in immunocompromised mice. Morphologically, they are adherent and exhibit spindle-shaped fibroblast characteristics, and proliferate well in monolayer cultures. Their primary application is as a highly susceptible substrate for attenuated Sabin Poliovirus strains, supporting the replication of all three viral types. The line has also been utilized in nucleic acid therapeutics research, notably in studies where CEBPA-51 saRNA was used to activate transcription of the CCATT/enhancer binding protein alpha (CEBPA). Although comprehensive karyotype analysis and mutation profiling have not been widely reported, these cells are generally considered genetically stable under recommended culture conditions.

CYNOM-K1 has broad s in genetic and vector research. It is used to evaluate hematopoietic cell transduction efficiency via chimeric lentiviral vectors, as well as for assessing the transduction efficiencies of adeno-associated virus vectors through synthetic cell-permeable peptides. Furthermore, researchers can extract genomic DNA from CYNOM-K1, allowing analysis of historical and contemporary genetic variation. These diverse s make CYNOM-K1 a valuable and essential tool for advancing our understanding of genetic mechanisms and gene delivery techniques.
