Cell Name: HeLa9903

HeLa9903 Cell Line is from human; Tissue: uterine cervix; Profile: hERalpha-HeLa-9903, transfected with estrogen receptor-alpha - reporter gene construct. (MTA to developer is required).

  • Description
HeLa9903 is a human papillomavirus-related endocervical adenocarcinoma cell line that was derived from the cervical tumor. HeLa9903 retains the epithelial morphology and adherent growth characteristics of parental HeLa cells, without the use of viral vectors for gene introduction. This cell line has been stably transfected with two constructs: one expressing human estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), and the other containing a firefly luciferase reporter gene regulated by estrogen response elements (EREs) linked to the mouse metallothionein promoter.

HeLa9903 serves as a powerful tool in biological research, particularly in assays that assess estrogen receptor (ER) transactivation. It is instrumental in predicting the binding affinity of various chemicals to ERα, enabling studies on the agonistic effects of compounds like bisphenol A and the influence of phyto- and mycoestrogens on estrogenic responses. Additionally, this cell line facilitates investigations into the dimerization and transcriptional activity of ERα, which are crucial for understanding potential health risks associated with estrogenic compounds. Overall, HeLa9903 is vital for advancing research in endocrinology and toxicology.
