Cell Name: HGC-27

The HGC-27 cell line was established by culture of the metastatic lymph node from a gastric cancer patient diagnosed histological as undifferentiated carcinoma.

  • Description
HGC-27 is a human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line derived from a lymph node metastasis of an untreated patient with poorly differentiated gastric cancer. These cells exhibit epithelial-like morphology and adhere firmly in culture. They display a rapid doubling time of approximately 17 hours. Chromosomal analysis reveals a modal chromosome number ranging from 109 to 110. This cell line demonstrates strong tumorigenic potential in xenograft models and is known for its robust engraftment efficiency in preclinical studies. HGC-27 secretes mucins, making it a valuable model for investigating mucin-related pathobiology. It is widely used to investigate gastric cancer progression, cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cancer stem-like properties.

HGC-27 cells are extensively used in human gastric cancer research to study critical cellular processes such as proliferation, migration, and invasion. Their aggressive phenotype and mucin-secreting properties make them an ideal platform for evaluating anticancer drugs and understanding the molecular mechanisms driving tumor progression. This cell line provides a versatile and clinically relevant model for preclinical drug screening and the development of targeted therapies for gastric cancer, ultimately supporting efforts to identify potential therapeutic strategies against this aggressive malignancy.
