    Human Brown Adipocytes (HBAs) are mature thermogenic cells derived from stromal vascular fractions of human adipose tissue or differentiated from precursor cells. They are characterized by multilocular lipid droplets and high mitochondrial density with robust UCP1 expression, enabling non-shivering thermogenesis through mitochondrial uncoupling. HBAs secrete active batokines such as VEGF-A, FGF21, and IL-6, impacting systemic metabolism and vascular homeostasis. In vitro, they respond to norepinephrine or cold-mimetic compounds by upregulating thermogenic genes (UCP1, CIDEA, PGC1α) and increasing oxygen consumption rate (OCR). These features make them an excellent human cell model for metabolic, pharmacological, and endocrine studies.
