    Human Cardiac Fibroblasts (HCFs) are isolated from the heart tissue, making up approximately 30% of the total cardiac cell population. As key regulators of myocardial structure and function, HCFs maintain tissue integrity by synthesizing and remodeling the extracellular matrix (ECM), including collagen, fibronectin, and elastin. HCFs proliferation plays a critical role in the development of cardiac fibrosis. HCFs display a spindle-shaped morphology and grow in an adherent monolayer under standard culture conditions.Studies have shown that stimuli such as inflammation and ischemia can lead to activation of cardiac fibroblasts and excessive deposition of ECM, which ultimately leads to the formation of cardiac fibrosis. Furthermore, emerging evidence suggests that activated HCFs can also secrete various pro-fibrotic cytokines and growth factors, such as TGF-β and CTGF, which further exacerbate fibrotic progression through autocrine and paracrine signaling mechanisms.
