Cell Name: Human Monocytes

  • Description
Human monocytes are derived from human peripheral blood and are an important type of white blood cells. They are primary monocytes isolated from human peripheral blood. These cells exhibit relatively large cell size with abundant cytoplasm. As an important component of the immune system, monocytes have functions such as phagocytosis of pathogens, participation in inflammatory responses and antigen presentation. Primary human monocytes are typically used immediately after isolation and do not proliferate in vitro. They express surface markers such as CD14 and CD16, which can be detected by flow cytometry. In addition, monocytes are associated with a variety of special diseases, such as infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases and certain malignant tumors, and play an important role in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

Human Monocytes can be used as a carrier for cell therapy, and can be engineered to deliver targeted drugs or enhance anti-tumor activity. Their differentiated macrophages are used to evaluate the efficacy of anti-inflammatory drugs or immunomodulators, while the induced dendritic cells are an important tool for cancer vaccine development. In addition, the phenotypic markers of monocytes (such as CD14 and CD16) provide a basis for disease diagnosis and immune status monitoring.
