    Human Prostate Stromal Cells are primary bipolar, adherent cells derived from non-malignant human prostate tissue, typically obtained from patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). These cells are cryopreserved following primary culture. Upon stimulation with TGF-β, they secrete cytokines such as IL-6 and BMP-6, which activate androgen receptor (AR) signaling in co-culture with prostate cancer cells. Additionally, they express progesterone receptors and influence cancer cell motility. Estrogen signaling through the ERK pathway also modulates their proliferative behavior. These cells are associated with prostate-related conditions including BPH and prostatitis. Karyotype analysis using G-banding confirms a normal 46,XY chromosomal profile with no structural abnormalities. Expression of AR and progesterone receptor has been validated by immunofluorescence and Western blot. In vitro, these cells display limited proliferative capacity and should be handled carefully to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
