These cells are a type of primary epithelial cells, showing polygonal or cuboidal morphology and an adherent growth pattern. They are cyropreserved at early passages to maintain high viability and functionality. Human renal epithelial cells play a key role in kidney tissue morphogenesis and repair, notably responding to acute kidney injury (AKI) by rapid proliferation. They express epithelial markers such as cytokeratin 18 and 19. Their karyotype is human diploid (46,XX or 46,XY), indicating genomic stability. Tthey are ideal for studies on renal disease models, drug toxicity screening, ischemic injury, and tissue regeneration.
