    Human Sebocytes are primary cells isolated from normal human facial skin tissue, specifically derived from sebaceous glands. These cells exhibit epithelial morphology with adherent culture properties. Following primary culture, the cells are cryopreserved and typically maintain viability for limited passages in vitro. Functionally, sebocytes synthesize and secrete sebum, a lipid-rich mixture containing squalene, wax esters, and free fatty acids, which is critical for skin lubrication and barrier integrity. Their dysregulation is implicated in sebaceous gland-related pathologies such as acne vulgaris and seborrhoea, where excessive lipid production and inflammatory cytokine release (e.g., IL-8, TNF-α) contribute to disease pathogenesis. These cells express characteristic markers including Keratin-7 and MUC-1.
