These are primary cells typically used at low passage to preserve phenotypic characteristics.The cells have a variety of important functions, including forming the structural basis of microvessels, participating in regulating vascular permeability and integrity, and playing a key role in immune response and inflammatory response by releasing cytokines and other bioactive substances. They express endothelial markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1), von Willebrand factor (vWF), and VE-cadherin, typically identified by immunocytochemistry or flow cytometry.Karyotype is generally normal in early passages and not routinely assessed.They are important for maintaining the normal function of the spleen and preventing infection, while providing a supportive microenvironment for the development of dendritic cells.
