Cell Name: KMS-12-BM

KMS-12-BM Cell Line is from human; Sex: F; Tissue: hemo-lymphocytic; Morphology: lymphocyte-like; Profile: myeloma, late stage of B-cell differentiation.

  • Description
KMS-12-BM is a human myeloma cell line derived from the bone marrow of a 64-year-old female with non-secretory multiple myeloma. These lymphocyte-like cells grow in suspension and often form small clusters, useful for studying plasma cell aggregation. Cytogenetic analysis shows a t(11;14)(q13;q32) translocation, associated with cyclin D1 (CCND1) dysregulation. They represent the plasmacytoid B-cell stage and are negative for surface and cytoplasmic immunoglobulins. The cells express CD20, CD38, and PCA-1, and lack EBNA, indicating no EBV involvement. Free from mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi, HIV-1/2, HBV, and HCV, they grow in RPMI-1640 with 10% FBS and maintain high viability under strict quality control. KMS-12-BM serves as a reliable model for plasma cell biology, multiple myeloma pathogenesis, biomarker discovery, and drug screening.
