Description

L6-H2 is a non-myogenic cell line and a sub-clone of the rat myogenic L6 cell line. It was originally derived from the skeletal muscle of a newborn rat. L6-H2 cells display a mix of fibroblast-like and rounded morphologies and exhibit loosely adherent culture properties. They are perpetuated in a continuous culture as a monolayer. Unlike their myogenic counterparts, L6-H2 cells do not form myotubes and are capable of proliferation in soft agar. For subculturing, cells are typically split at ratios ranging from 1:10 to 1:20 using trypsin/EDTA and seeded at a density of 2-4×10^4 cells per square centimeter.
