Cell Name: LL/2(LLc1)

Mouse C57BL Lewis lung carcinoma. Derived from the lung of a C57BL mouse implanted with a primary Lewis Lung carcinoma. The cells can be used as a model for metastasis and for studying the effects of chemotherapeutic agents.

  • Description
The Lewis lung carcinoma line 1 (LLC1), also known as LL/2, is a murine lung cancer cell line originally derived from a primary tumor in a C57BL/6 mouse. This syngeneic, immunocompetent model remains highly tumorigenic and metastatic, faithfully replicating the behavior of primary Lewis lung carcinoma, including lung colonization. LLC1 cells exhibit epithelial-like adherent morphology, grow efficiently in RPMI-1640 with 2% FCS or DMEM with 10% FBS. They are chromosomally abnormal and express both cytokeratin and vimentin, indicating epithelial-mesenchymal characteristics. These cells are tested negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi, HIV, HBV, and HCV. LLC1 is widely used in metastasis, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy research, providing a reliable and reproducible murine model for preclinical lung cancer studies under physiologically relevant conditions.

LL-2(LLC1) cells have broad s in cancer research. They are useful in focus assays to assess drug-triggered cell death, providing insights into the impacts of different agents on cancer cell viability. Additionally, LL-2(LLC1) cells are commonly employed in syngeneic animal models to assess the efficacy of anticancer treatments in vivo. These models enable researchers to study treatment effectiveness and potential side effects in a controlled environment. Furthermore, LL-2(LLC1) cells are valuable in identifying key factors in human cancer. Researchers can test effects of antibodies or blockers on LL-2(LLC1) cells, shedding light on potential therapeutic targets and aiding in the development of targeted cancer therapies. Overall, LL-2(LLC1) cells serve as valuable tools for studying drug action, therapy results, and molecular targets in cancer biology.
