Cell Name: MCA-RH 7777

Rat Buffalo hepatoma. Derived from the Morris hepatoma 7777 (obtained from a male Buffalo strain rat). The original tumour was induced with N-2 fluorenylphthalamic acid. Particularly interesting for oncogeny studies since the cells produce alpha-fetoprot.

  • Description
MCA-RH 7777 is an animal cell line that was originally isolated from the liver tissue of a female rat with hepatocellular carcinoma. MCA-RH 7777 exhibits epithelial-like morphology with a distinctive fusiform and polygonal appearance and loosely adherent culture properties. In vitro, the McA-RH 7777 cells express glucocorticoid and α-fetoprotein (AFP). The glucocorticoid treatment may increase the cell proliferation and inhibit alpha-fetoprotein production. MCA-RH 7777 expresses both H3-receptor (H3R) transcripts and proteins; its proliferation is modulated by HA via interactions with autoinhibitory H3Rs.
