    Mouse hepatocytes are primary liver cells isolated from murine liver tissue. These hepatocytes exhibit polygonal morphology, form tight monolayers in adherent culture, and display typical cellular polarity, including distinct apical and basolateral domains. Functionally, mouse hepatocytes perform key hepatic roles such as albumin production, urea synthesis, bile canaliculi formation, and cytochrome P450 enzyme activity. These cells also express liver-specific transporters and receptors, allowing investigation of xenobiotic metabolism, drug-induced liver injury, and lipid/glucose metabolism. Karyotypic analysis confirms a normal diploid murine genome, and they are confirmed to express high levels of albumin, CYP enzymes, and transport proteins such as Oatp1 and Mrp2. These cells are non-transformed, with limited passage capacity, and typically used at passage 0 or 1 to preserve native hepatic functionality.
