    Rat Liver Kupffer Cells are derived from healthy rat liver tissue. Kupffer cells are liver-resident macrophages, residing within the sinusoidal lumen. Following the primary culture, these cells are cryopreserved. Kupffer cells are capable of self-renewal and have the functions of phagocytosis, immune surveillance, and phagocytosis of pathogens as well as dead or damaged hepatocytes. Studies have shown that Kupffer cells are implicated in different types of liver damage, such as copper and iron toxicity, alcoholic liver disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In vitro, these cells do not proliferate and cannot be passaged, and repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture.
