    Rat Hippocampal Neurons are primary neuronal cells isolated from the hippocampus of rats – a brain region essential for learning and spatial memory. These cells typically cryopreserved at the earliest passage and exhibit neuronal-like morphology with adherent growth properties. In vitro, they exhibit polarized processes with clearly defined axons and dendrites, forming functional synaptic networks. Functionally, they regulate synaptic plasticity through mechanisms like long-term potentiation and have been implicated in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, particularly via amyloid-β oligomer-induced upregulation of TLR4. These cells are capable of releasing high levels of neurotransmitter, including GABA and glutamic acid. Due to their terminally differentiated state, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided.
