Cell Name: TE-671

  • Description
TE-671 is a human rhabdomyosarcoma cell line isolated from rhabdomyosarcoma tissue. The cell line was later confirmed to be identical to the rhabdomyosarcoma cell line RD by cytogenetic analysis and DNA fingerprinting. The cells appear as multilayered round or polygonal shapes, interspersed with stromal glial cells, and form colonies in soft agar medium, demonstrating anchorage-dependent growth. TE-671 cells have a unique neuromuscular dual phenotype, with high expression of myogenic markers MyoD and Myogenin, while retaining the expression of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and functional acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). This special phenotype makes it an important model for studying the pathogenesis of rhabdomyosarcoma, especially for exploring the molecular characteristics of PAX3-FOXO1 fusion gene-negative alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS).

  • Application
TE-671 can be utilized in drug screening for potential cancer therapy by assessing cell growth state such as viability, proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and cell cycle arrest. Due to the pivotal role of ATP-sensitive K+ channels in vascular smooth muscle, TE671 can be employed to investigate their involvement in mediating responses to pharmacological and endogenous vasodilators. Undifferentiated TE671 cells exhibit voltage-sensitive sodium currents and significant NaV1.7 expression, making them a valuable model for studying voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSC).
